EUDR
Lessebo Paper ensures readiness for EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to ensure that products placed on the EU market are not associated with deforestation or forest degradation. The regulation requires full traceability of raw materials back to their origin and verified risk assessments for all forest-based products.
We are classified as a medium-sized operator under the EUDR and are actively implementing the regulation to ensure full compliance ahead of the 30 December 2025 deadline.
As a downstream operator, our obligation is to keep and transmit the reference and verification numbers received from our pulp suppliers once they have completed their own Due Diligence Statements (DDS). This information is forwarded to our customers for each shipment, enabling them to either conduct their own DDS based on those numbers or pass the information further down the value chain, depending on their role.
We source our pulp exclusively from Swedish producers, who use raw material from responsibly managed forests in Sweden and, to a limited extent, the Baltics — regions known for strong environmental legislation and transparent forestry practices.
To facilitate efficient and transparent data exchange, we use the EUDR-X standard, developed by Initiative Online Print (IOP) in collaboration with Intergraf and industry partners. EUDR-X enables automated and standardised exchange of EUDR data throughout the supply chain.
Authorities have clarified that the regulation applies to timber felled after 31 December 2025. This means that, during a transitional period, both products covered by EUDR and those outside its scope will coexist — a normal and expected process.
By taking a proactive approach and maintaining close collaboration with both our suppliers and customers, we are well positioned to meet all EUDR requirements and continue delivering sustainable, compliant paper products.
