Solomiya Magazine No. 3

(2025)

A Tribute to Creativity and Innovation

The third issue of Solomiya Magazine has garnered international acclaim, winning both Gold and Grand Prix at the ADC Germany Festival in the Editorial category. This issue, which touches on the struggles, strength, and beauty of a generation living in the shadow of war, is more than just a magazine – it is an emotional journey, a creative manifestation, and a visual document of a time and place marked by conflict.

Created using Lessebo Design paper (via our distributor Igepa), the magazine’s tactile quality enhances its content, with the cover’s nearly three-dimensional effect captivating from the very first glance. A key feature of the issue is its creative binding, which perfectly complements the visual impact of the cover. Our paper contribution ensures the magazine not only resonates visually but also aligns with the project’s commitment to sustainability.

The issue features powerful works, including “War Dreams”, a series of intimate portraits by Jean-Marc Caimi & Valentina Piccinni, capturing the emotional journey of Yevhen, a young soldier from Odesa. It also includes Alex Mashtaler’s striking photographs, which contrast youthful innocence with the harshness of war, alongside the contributions of Ivanna Kozachenko and Commercial Public Art, who explore the impact of Russian occupation on Ukrainian architecture

The third issue of Solomiya captures a complex moment in time – one where hope has given way to exhaustion, but also where the defiance of youth continues to shine through. As the jury of the ADC Germany Festival commented, Solomiya vibrates with raw emotion and power, embodying the essence of communication in times of crisis. It is both a visual expression of strength and a vital emotional support network for young Ukrainians, offering visibility and connection across Europe.

Solomiya Magazine was founded in 2022 in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion against Ukraine and documents artists’s responses to the war and their engagement with an environment shaped by ongoing imperial aggression. Curated and edited by Vsevolod Kazarin, Andrii Ushytskyi, Ivanna Kozachenko and Sebastian Wells, the magazine is designed by Kollektiv Scrollan.

Throughout the entire magazine, Lessebo Design paper was used, providing the necessary high-quality material to bring this emotional and complex visual narrative to life. The result is a deeply moving publication, celebrated for its artistry, authenticity, and the creative vision behind its production.
