About Tinaye
Tinaye Makuyana is a sculptural paper artist whose work explores the boundaries between structure and illusion. Through intricate folding techniques, she transforms paper into geometric compositions that play with light, shadow, and depth. Inspired by architectural forms, her work invites the viewer to reflect on space, perception, and the subtle tension between what is seen and what is imagined.
For the project with Lessebo Paper, Tinaye worked with Lessebo Colours and Lessebo Design to shape a floral artwork that emerges from a cylindrical paper form. Using shades such as Ivory 1539, Vanilla 5012, Blossom 3325 and Amazon 9065, she allowed light and shadow to interact with the layered paper, giving the flowers a vibrant almost living presence.
The choice of flowers is a nod to nature, a reminder of Lessebo Paper’s position as one of the most environmentally friendly paper mills in the world. In Tinaye’s hands, the material becomes both a symbol and a medium, reflecting beauty, sustainability and craftsmanship.

Now displayed as a decorative piece, the Flower Lamp is never static. Its appearance shifts throughout the day as natural and artificial light play across its surfaces, revealing new details in the folds and casting ever-changing shadows
